    For those of you, my friends, who were avid readers of my previous blog, A Miscellany Of Tasteful Music, among the musicians I was proud to champion was Destruktionsanstalt, whose works were featured at this link.  I’m pleased to say that Per Najbjerg Odderskov has a fresh release under that monicker, splitting it with a project which is new to me in Cyanosis.  The first two tracks from from Destruktionsanstalt, and unlike many noise bands, there is a nearly surgical focus on both tracks.  The pummeling noise fest has a vibe utterly indebted to the masters, especially early period-Throbbing Gristle…

    Schloss Tegal – Musick From Madness

    Schloss Tegal have a storied history in post-Industrial, ritualistic and experimental music.  The duo of Richard Schneider (based in Prague) and MWBurch (based in New York) developed a body of work on their own, drawing from some extremely dark places, as well as collaborating with musicians like Aube from Japan and the American experimental music composer John Duncan.     Hiiro Issiki – 1000 Plateaux

    1000 Plateaux is the debut record by Hiiro Issiki, a Japanese composer.  I don’t find too much information on Issiki’s background, but this record is a musical chimera, sprouting patterns and shapes at will, yet maintaining cohesion, and in many parts, beauty.  What a stunning piece of work this is! Respect goes to Bedouin Records out of Bangkok, Thailand, for releasing this album.  It’s motivation to explore their catalogue further.

    Destruktionsanstalt – Kaelder Mug

    Per Najbjerg Odderskov is an artist I enjoyed featuring over at my old blog, and I’m pleased to hear he has a new release out.  It is as dark, heavy and claustrophobic (and yes, that’s a good thing for this genre of music) as his best works. The gloomy feel reminds me of peak 1990s experimental cassette culture, the weirdness of Industrial music-era Cabaret Voltaire, and horror movie soundtracks. Bleak, haunting, and engaging.

    Bolduchin – Shellac

    It’s impressive to hear when those who work outside of music under normal circumstances bring their talents into music, especially of a dark ambient variety.  Giacomo Triglia, who works under the name Bolduchin, provides a bleak, yet very lively soundtracks to the horrible dreams we all have now and then.  Actually, this would make a perfect soundscape for walls closing in on you.  Labels like Cold Meat Industry and Cryo Chamber would find this very familiar sonic territory.

    Various Artists – Silber Records: Droneuary 2021

    Silber Records has released their wonderful Droneuary series to begin 2019 and 2020, and they are continuing the tradition in 2021.  Though it is still early in the year, wait until mid-February to see this series completed. If you enjoy drone, dark ambient and experimental music, this comp will keep you busy for a while.  Respect to Silber Records for continuing this tradition.
