Hyldýpi – D V A L I
Hyldýpi is the project name for Icelandic composer Herbert Már Sigmundsson. The music is a gentle sort of ambient touched with New Age influences. Respect to Neotantra Records out of Italy for releasing this, as it’s a pleasant listen.
Sverre Knut Johansen – Distant Shore (30th Anniversary Edition)
Thirty years is a very long time to manage missing the work of a critically acclaimed artist like Sverre Knut Johansen. His work on this album sounds like a combination of the better aspects of New Age and early electronic music, a more relaxed version of progressive rock and a Continue Reading
Yellow Magic Orchestra – Seoul Music
No posts today due to traveling. I’m in Seoul at the moment so enjoy some Seoul music!
Abul Mogard & Rafael Anton Irisarri – Live at Le Guess Who?
Abul Mogard and Rafael Anton Irisarri, from Italy and Spain respectively, are two of the most outstanding ambient music composers going today. They collaborate here on a live work that sounds so atmospheric as to be nearly holy, especially since it was performed at a church in Utrecht.
Fathomage – The Doxologion Codex
I never thought the dungeon synth genre would produce excellent Orthodox Christian music, but he we are. Fathomage are from Australia, and they produce a music that, though generally electronic, incorporate Eastern Orthodox doxology, Celtic Christian themes and fine folkish instrumentation.
Kazdoura – Khayal (خيال)
No reviews today as we prepare for Gregorian Calendar Christmas and finals for the school. In my stead, I offer to you Kazdoura, a singer from Canada who is of Levantine Arab descent. This is a touch of Arabic pop blended with trip-hop, jazz and psychedelic Andalou Rock.
rand – Peripherie Remixes
Even though I can be slow to respond, thanks in part to being a one-man operation since the departure of my old friend and partner Steven Shore (RIP), it is nice to come across emails which turn me on to music I would have otherwise not been able to discover. Continue Reading
Various Artists – Future Sounds Of Kraut Vol. 3 – Compiled by Fred und Luna
Our friends at Compost Records have the third release in the series Future Sounds of Kraut, but it comes on the heels of some heartbreaking news. May good Rainer Buchmüller rest in peace. He has left quite a legacy behind. From Compost’s Bandcamp site: “Chapter 3 of the successful compilation Continue Reading
Al Wootton – Lifted From The Earth
From the Bandcamp site: “Guess-again shapeshifter Al Wootton continues a fertile streak of releases for ZamZam, Livity and his own Trule label, as well as an acclaimed collab with Susumu Mukai and Valentina Magaletti as Holy Tongue, on a killer new album for Berceuse Heroique’s tape series, a screwed navigation Continue Reading
