Many years ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing fretless bassist and fellow Californian Dan Krimm’s album on my old blog, A Miscellany of Tasteful Music. Recently, Dan informed me that he has a new album coming out, and it’s one of the most elegant and relaxing listens I’ve had in a long time.
Honestly, it has a sound that would fit perfectly in the catalogs of ECM or Enja Records, but there’s a unique tension in the bass and piano that sets it apart. This is not just background music. If you’re fortunate enough to have a good stereo system, I encourage you to set aside an hour to fully appreciate this album; it’s truly rewarding. Below, you can listen to each track in good quality on YouTube. To purchase the CD, click here or listen to the album on Pandora.
