Juan Antonio Nieto was a percussionist who, at one time, was a member of the legendary Spanish new wave/experimental band, Aviador Dro. He went on to collaborate with exceptional experimental musicians both in Spain and internationally. Nieto passed away in 2022, but one of his final works was a collaboration with Czech musician and photographer Jan Kruml. The term “noisebient” is one of the tags used to describe this music, and I think it fits perfectly. There is a gritty element to it, reminiscent of a 1980s horror soundtrack, yet it also possesses a warm ambience. It’s great listening.
