The venerable record label Lollipoppe Shoppe has released what is the final stop on Úzgin Űver’s long, strange trip. Included in this live session (in studio, without an audience) are acoustic renditions of older material with no post-production editing. The album brings together new acoustic interpretations of compositions from different periods of the band’s career. These include newly
recorded versions of pieces from their debut album Úzgin Üver (1995), as well as tracks from 99 and Bucka. In the stripped-down acoustic setting, the works take on a new clarity, offering a different perspective on the band’s musical legacy.
Since its formation, Úzgin Üver has developed a sonic language somewhere between imaginary folk music, archaic sound worlds, improvisation, and atmospheric sound art. On Ausklang, this musical signature appears in its most pared-back and, at the same time, most immediate form.
Far removed from nostalgia, Ausklang is a concentrated document of a moment: ten live recordings full of warmth and intensity. It is the essence of a band that has always moved beyond musical categories — and a dignified farewell that continues to resonate long after the music ends.
