The legendary Romany filmmaker Tony Gatlif passed away a few weeks ago. Composer Jeff Gburek produced a stunningly good album of guitar music as a tribute. From his Bandcamp site:

Spontaneous acoustic guitar improvisations in a mode of commemoration of the sound cinema of Tony Gatlif, who dedicated his life and art to the people of the margins of societies. I grieve with no holds barred. I celebrate the magic of life that his films so imbued with the music of all our people so deftly and clearly enshrine. He was a writer of icons. Of the sinner saints slugging through the mud. Coming out smiling.“
Jeff’s guitar is played impeccably. The album is warm, well-recorded, and full of emotion, much as Tony Gatlif’s films were.
