“About this album: The Sagavena is a stunning string instrument with a unique and beautiful design, reminiscent of the Vichitra Veena and Chitra Veena. This instrument has a wider range of sound than the traditional Indian Veena, and the tone is deep and warm. It can play fascinating melodies and delicate ornaments, often evoking people’s deep emotions. Therefore, it is also called the “harp of the sea” (the Hindi word “Sagar” means “ocean”). Noor Zehra Kazim is the only Sagavena player in the world. Her father Raza Kazim invented the Sagavena – he is a famous Pakistani lawyer, philosopher, photographer, musicologist and music producer. In order to facilitate Noor Zehra Kazim’s performance in China, my colleagues have made great efforts, and the hardships are far beyond the imagination of ordinary people. Fortunately, we finally completed her performance at the 8th Tomorrow Music Festival and recorded this album in Liu Ying Studio in Shenzhen. Another point to note is that due to the length of the media, the reel-to-reel and 45 rpm LP only contain two songs, while the CD contains three full songs.
