This compilation put together by Aloha Got Soul Records out of Hawaii was done in response to the terrible fires which happened in Los Angeles. Thank you from an Angelino. From the label’s Bandcamp site:
“We believe in strength in numbers, in the potential within our music community, and in encouraging the act of creating to enable the greatest change.
In response to the ongoing crisis in Los Angeles, Aloha Got Soul has curated For Our Friends: A Disaster Relief Compilation, with 100% of proceeds going to verified sources to support relief efforts for those affected by the wildfires.
More than 50 artists from Hawaii and around the world have donated their music for this project. Most tracks are previously unreleased; several were recorded expressly for this project.
‘For Our Friends’ features artists on the Aloha Got Soul label, friends we’ve made at our record shop in Honolulu, people we’ve met while traveling, and musicians we’ve connected with, in-person and online, through the powerful force that is community.
There is a strong sense of respect that exists in Hawaii and its music scene, and this effort is a way of extending our aloha to Los Angeles.
We know the road is long. We saw this happen with Maui — we know and understand the devastation and uncertainty. We will do what we can to help along the way.”
