I have a bit of catchup work to do with Russian releases which I plan to remedy over the next few weeks, and moreso once I move from China.
Arbay Taraa are a mindblowingly great band brought to us by our friends at Russian World Music Chart. They are an ethno-alternative metal project from Tuva! We are local musicians, and our music is an extraordinary compilation of ethnic throat singing, ethnic instruments (Igil, doshpuluur) and, as a base, alternative music/nu metal. Everything they do their our own vision and their own sound. This is not ethnic rock, this is ethnic metal – and this is the main difference from most ethnic groups. A strong debut from a band who, surely, will gain a solid following in the West and China soon enough!
