Duncan Blachford is an Australian intuitive musician who delivers a gentle track of piano improvisation. Not bad at all for a non-pianist, I must say, as the track held my attention for its entirety.

Chaigidel & Neraterræ – Lamaštu
Two of Italy’s best dark /ritual ambient projects, CHAIGIDEL and NERATERRÆ, have joined forces and created a deeply evocative ritualistic opus rich in various aural elements and sceneries. The title “Lamaŝtu” pays tribute to the Mesopotamian mythological malevolent goddess, the most terrible of all female demons, daughter of the sky god Continue Reading
Seah – Clouds & Spectres
Seah is an experimental music artist from Bradley, Illinois who produces long, sweeping ambient drone. There is an organ-like elegance to the compositions, especially with the first track, Unfurling, which meanders in a way that would fit in an old 1920s soundtrack of walking on the tundra. Many thanks to Continue Reading
George Christian – Nothingness, ou... O Vento
Our friend George Christian has produced an album that is an icy minimal masterpiece. The pieces, especially Track 1, O Vento, is perfectly named. I literally felt a chill hearing the tune, replete with faraway vocals and a windy atmosphere, befitting the song’s title. From his Bandcamp site: “Thanks to Continue Reading
MOREGO – Fascination
Despite being in a very tough neighborhood, Iran’s new music scene is as healthy as ever, and thanks to Bandcamp, Soundcloud and social media in general, the wider world is finding out about what kind of talent is residing in the country. Take our friend MOREGO, who produce an IDM-inflected Continue Reading
Vidna Obmana – Dante Trilogy: Tremor . Spore . Legacy
Dirk Serries has kept his Industrial/Fourth World project Vidna Obmana alive since 1984, but this release for metal label Relapse Records will be his coup de grace. Loosely based on Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, this 3-CD set covers all the music genres Serries has worked in over the past four Continue Reading
Various Artists – Kalamine Records: Inside / Beside IX
Our dear friends at Kalamine Records have today released a compilation of dark ambient and electronic music that is in keeping with the label’s ethos. Artists featured include label stalwarts like Zumaia, Daria Galabriel and Voleurs. A solid comp.
Phil Tomsett & Aaron Martin – At Sea
We have had the pleasure of reviewing the work on cellist Aaron Martin in the past, but it’s nice to see a new release with him collaborating on a project with accordeonist Phil Tomsett which, ironically, began in London. From the release’s Bandcamp site: “At Sea grew out of my Continue Reading
Pete Swinton – Soundscapes / Dreamscapes Vol. 5
As the name implies, Pete Swinton’s latest album is a series of gorgeous soundscapes that remind one of a more organic version of artists like Steve Roach and Robert Rich, but with more of a field recording vibe. Very nice for headphones.
Jettenbach – Things Once Bestowed
Jettenbach were reviewed here once before, and as I quite enjoyed this noisy ambient drone work touched with elements of post-Industrial and Kosmische Kraut, I thought it good to share some new work by the project.
