I can’t pin down why, but Lebanese experimental music composer Yara Asmar’s latest album is almost heartbreaking in its beauty. I’ve never heard electroacoustic music that left such a deep emotional scratch. Sublime.

I don’t run into many experimental ambient bands from Liechtenstein, but this, I have to say, turned out to be a pretty good listen. Dark and somewhat ritualistic, it’s a good sort of weird.

Australia, along with New Zealand, receives inadequate attention when it comes to coverage of the experimental music scene. This compilation from Daisart effectively showcases some of the country’s prominent artists, including Paul Schütze, Pelican Daughters, and Sarah Hopkins, among others.
Cousin Silas & Pete Swinton – Poppy Field
Two great ambient/electronic artists, Cousin Silas and Pete Swinton, collaborate on an album that resembles a lo-fi yet elegant tribute to Tangerine Dream. Gentle and somewhat sci-fi in feel, this album is a delightful listen.
