Fleur is a Dutch singer who brings yé-yé music back to life with this EP, due for release on June 12. There is one track available, and I was pleasantly surprised to hear yé-yé, psychedelic pop, and garage rock melt together into something wonderful to listen to.

Kilbey Kennedy – Serafina (single)
From their Bandcamp site: “Kilbey Kennedy is the long-standing collaborative project between Steve Kilbey (The Church) and Martin Kennedy (composer and producer behind All India Radio). Since their first release in 2009, the duo has forged a singular sound – an “ultimate convergence of influences, that shimmers with a strange beauty Continue Reading
Marco Benevento – Glera
I don’t know how Marco Beneveto managed not to get caught by my radar, as he produces such great Nu-Jazz that I almost feel bad I didn’t know about him sooner. This is an upcoming release, but the tracks available are funky and as contemporary as it gets.
Wim Mertens & Glenn Branca – Belly Of An Architect (Original Soundtrack)
For no other reason than having a good memory about the great Wim Mertens and the late Glenn Branca, I present you this minimalist classic soundtrack, one of Mertens’ best works.
Ian Hawgood – 朝 (Morning)
I stumbled across Ian Hawgood’s work some months ago, and I ended up quite enjoying it, mainly because of the soft, gentle, natural droning sounds he comes up with. It’s best to read about his methodology below. From his Bandcamp site: “During the first lockdown here in the UK, I Continue Reading
Hadley Caliman – Iapetus
Wewantsounds, the most esteemed reissue label around, socks it to us yet again with a vinyl reissue of a long-forgotten work by Hadley Caliman, criminally unavailable since 1971. Celia Cruz & Willie Colón – Celia y Willie
This is from an era when salsa was cool. The true queen of the genre, Celia Cruz, is paired up on this release with her equal, the recently departed Willie Colón, duetting in the first of two albums they worked together on. From the release’s Bandcamp site: “1981’s Celia y Continue Reading
Culto sin Nombre – Dos Formas
Avant-progressive chamber rock has great appeal to me. Mexican quartet Culto Sin Nombre were among the best at it, though they always suffered from poor production quality. It’s a shame, really, as they should have been held in the same esteem as Univers Zero and Art Zoyd.
Internal Fusion – Conte de la pensée dernière
Our dear friends at Mahorka Records bestow us a fine album of frighteningly good electroacoustic music, brutal in its tenor. From the label’s Bandcamp site: “Eric Latteux aka Internal Fusion is a dark ambient artist, born in 1964, based in Britany (France). He has been active since the early ’90s Continue Reading
Saba Alizadeh – Rituals Of The Last Dawn
Being an insomniac has some advantages. As is normal for me, I stayed wide awake until 4 a.m. listening to music. While doing so, I came across an album by kamancheh maestro Saba Alizadeh which was so eerily beautiful that I had to suggest it for your perusal. The avant-garde Continue Reading
