I will be traveling back to the United States for about 15 days, so I will not be posting much either today or tomorrow. I leave you with a video of the magnificent setar master Hossein Alizadeh from Iran to keep your spirits up. It’s helped mine, for sure.
Thank you for sharing this video. I hope it helps more people get to know Hossein Alizadeh and his best works. I’m just leaving this comment to complete and correct the information you posted:
* The first piece, “Mehtab,” is a solo on the sallāne, one of Alizadeh’s own invented instruments, from the album of the same name.
* The second piece is a solo and ensemble performance from the album “Saz-e No,” in which Alizadeh plays another of his own invented instruments, the shurangiz.
* The last piece is from the beautiful album “Be Tamaashay Abhay-e Sepid,” a collaboration between Alizadeh and Jivan Gasparyan. Here too, Alizadeh plays the shurangiz.
If you’re looking to listen to Alizadeh’s setar work, I recommend two albums: Torkaman and Monad.
Dear Omid, thank you for the corrections! I know of Torkaman, but I have not heard Monad yet. I will seek it out, and I thank you for the advice!
Anytime!
If you could not find it let me know. I will send it to you.
I’m much obliged!
